Vittoria Open Corsa EVO CX 2009 Model 700x 23mm Tire – Reviews

I consider tires and saddles to be the two most important parts on a bike so I am picky about both. I’ve tried lots of tires in 20+ years and a few years ago decided to try the Corsa CX EVO after hearing all the hype. All I can say is that this is the silkiest, fastest and most comfortable road tire I’ve ever ridden. They will transform the feel of any bike. I even rode them for a time with latex tubes which took them to the next level.

That all being said, they can be prone to cuts and flats especially on bad roads. The roads and paved trails near me are mostly smooth and clean but the tire has proven to be a bit delicate even in these conditions. They are also expensive at $70 per tire so replacing them with regularity gets pricey. We’re talking about a lightweight race tire so it’s important to understand the tradeoffs.

After my last casing puncture on the rear tire I’ve decided to try the Vittoria Diamante Pro (I guess I’m hooked on Vittoria). I just can’t justify $70 per tire especially since my racing days are over (for now). On the front I will stay with Corsa CX since I’m getting long life out of it with few problems. I need something a bit less high maintenance and less expensive on the rear. I’ve read that the Diamante has its issues like any race tire but I won’t feel so bad replacing it at $55.
