Topeak Two Up TuneUp Bike Stand – Reviews

I just bought this rack, it’s well made and I love it.

However, it has one big problem: my mountain bikes have the cables routed underneath the top tube and so they have to support the entire weight of the bike when storing it. I hope this won’t cause any damage.

It’s great to find a nicely engineered product. It’s not perfect, but pretty darn close.

First, assembly is easy. Just expand the telescoping pole and the feet, install the arm assemblies to the pole and you’re good to go. When it’s set up, it’s VERY sturdy. The rack also comes with a “spacer” that will let you install the lower arm assembly several inches out from the pole, so the upper bike can hang closer to the pole while the outer bike hangs several inches away from the pole. The spacer is optional. I didn’t use it, yet I can hang my two large street bikes without them interfering with each other. It just gives you flexibility to make the rack work best for your situation.

A minor negative for me is that you can only adjust the hangers on the arm with an allen wrench, so the right size wrench has to be handy. Also, though it worked for me, it could potentially be limiting that the hangers are spaced fairly close together on the bars. It’s probably designed this way

Yes, it comes with just one arm stabilizer, it should had come with two. Having said that, you shouldn’t buy a second one; buy a short bungee cord instead. If you get a second arm stabilizer for the top mount, the moment you move it out of the way in order to get the bike down the wheel starts flopping around. If you bungee up the front wheel to the down tube, it works better and at a 1/30th of the cost.

Superior quality. This thing is stable. I live in northern Japan and we are still getting aftershocks from the big earthquake. It has taken a 4.0 earthquake with two bikes and no problems. 3.0 are common; they wake me up in the middle of the night and I just go back to sleep with a smile, knowing that the bikes are fine :)

As far as working on the bike goes, it is not as stable as a dedicated work stand, but certainly works better than no stand. The thing is; the most stable position is with one of the three legs directly under the bike, but if the leg is there it gets in the way

This is a good bike stand.

Its clearly made out of quality parts, and some careful thought has been given to its design features.

For example, each leg on the tripod base has support links that run to the center member, making the stand more stable.

The center of the stand is not made out of just one round member. Actually a second member with a slightly smaller diameter, ‘telescopes’ or protrudes from the first (which is a good design in my opinion). And furthermore right where the member telescopes, they’ve thoughtfully provided clamps that can be tightened to ensure that the two members act as one solid beam.

All of the clamps are quick release, so the whole thing can be folded up and transported without too much trouble. It’s also fairly light at maybe 15 pounds ~ lighter than your bikes probably. This is really the *PERFECT* solution to someone living in a rental apartment who may be moving every few years or so.

The bottom bike clamp is offset a little bit forw
