Topeak MTX Office Bag – Reviews
I ride in to work 4-5 days a week. I can manage to fit everything I need: 15″ laptop, jeans, shirt, belt, underwear, hair gel, headphones, iPhone, a spare tire and a few bike tools. I had previously used the Topeak bag with the panniers, which had more capacity, but the panniers eventually developed holes from holding the laptop. I tried all kinds of ways to make this work – reinforcing the panniers, giving the laptop extra support with a bungie cord, etc. But I truly believe this bag is the only proper safe way to transport a laptop on a bike except for a backpack, which I find annoying to wear on non-trivial rides.
It is sturdy – it’s held up well after almost 2 years of heavy use. I was a bit worried about the zippers given all I cram in, but they are still holding strong. I like it so much I use it as a laptop bag even when I don’t ride in.
I say *almost* perfect because I wish it had just a bit more capacity. In fact I should say that I had to cut out some of the inter

My only beef: I have a 15.4″ macbook pro. I don’t know how you could fit anything wider. It touches the sides of the bag – even bows them out a little. There is a ton of padding built into the bag to protect your computer. A few things to consider: If you are planning on taking a LOT of clothes with you (which I do), it will be tight. I carry my macbook, pants, shirt, socks, a belt, a glock 19, and a kindle, and that is about all you can fit. There are tons of compartments/pockets that I don’t necessarily need, but someone who has a lot of peripherals might find useful. All in all, if you commute to the office, this is your bag. If you have a 17″ laptop, good luck getting it to fit. If its loaded down and heavy, it might sag a little over the sides of the rack, even with the rigid molded foam. The foam isn’t rigid enough to support a ton of weight. This sounds like a negative review – I’m just listing all of the things I notice day in and day out as I use the bag. I use it every day and wouldn’t be caught without it. I use it even when I don’t ride. I use the rain cover (included) all the time for an extra piece of high-viz. cheers, and have a good ride.

I got this bag from eBay for $40, and yes, it’s very very nice – safe, durable, easy to attach, all that.
The Topeak site reads “fits 17″ laptops” – Prior to my purchase, I looked specifically for 17″ MBP users but didn’t find any.
This bag does NOT fit a 17″ MBP comfortably.
Now I’m on the lookout for a different bag/rack system.

This bag is great. I don’t always travel with the laptop in it….so I put other stuff in it. Makes for an easy way to commute to work WITHOUT a sweaty back:).
