Power Grips Strap Set (Black) – Reviews
But not quite. They do not provide the feeling of solid connection to the pedals that a clipless pedal/shoe combination gives. On the other hand, they are more versatile – you can wear any kind of shoe with these; dress shoes, cowboy boots, sneakers, whatever. They do have to be adjusted precisely to fit the particular shoe you are using, and changing shoes may require readjustment. The idea is that as you rotate your foot into pedaling position, the straps should tighten just enough to hold the shoe onto the pedal, but not be so tight as to make it difficult or impossible to keep your foot parallel to the bicycle.
They are also challenging to get into, as their weight turns the pedal exactly 180 degrees from where you need it to be for easy entry – but it’s no more difficult than old-style toe clips and straps, or those strapless toe clips that no one seems to use anymore. They would probably work well on a recumbent, where you could enter them from underneath instead of tryin

The product worked as it should but setup was not easy. The instructions show a couple of simple illustrations about installation but never really go into any detail. I never got a sense of how tight the straps should be or where they should fit on your foot. After playing around with different positions and tightness I just gave up and stopped using the straps.
Unfortunately I have narrow feet and can not find clip-in shoes that fit properly either so I was really hoping the Power Grips would work better for me. FOUR stars for the product but TWO stars for fit and instructions. So THREE stars overall.

I ordered this item using the provided sizing information from the manufacture, they were still too big. According to them I should have needed the extra large straps. Pretty easy to install overall about 30 minutes, small parts to deal with and took a little coaxing with the pedals I have. Amazon was great with the return very good customer service to bad you can’t find that in person with regular retailers.

I’ve been using Power Grips for the last 3 years and love them. Over 2,000+ miles of commuting, pleasure riding, training, four triathlons and two wipeouts, they’ve never failed me. Installation takes a few minutes, and can be somewhat challenging if you’re not used to operating a screwdriver in the tight confines of a platform or cage pedal and/or have a tough time following directions c-l-o-s-e-l-y. That said, once installed, they work brilliantly. Based on the way you place your foot into the strap, they self adjust and hold on tight (they’ll hold my work shoes, Chucks, sandals and my running shoes), and they’ll always let go of you when you need them to (such as at stoplights, transitions and the occasional wipeout). Mine are still in good shape after many miles but I’m ordering a set for my wife and a spare pair for me to use or share. Again: an amazing product. Get them.
