My friend Mike has one of these 3mm cables. I told him it was no good, but he maintained that it was uncuttable. I took a pair of simple utility shears and cut clean through it in under a minute. The shears were destroyed, but no more bike cable. Imagine what a bolt cutter can do. Let’s face it, it’s a 3mm (millimeter) cable. It will deter middle school children and pets from stealing, but that’s about it. DO NOT USE IT TO LOCK EXPENSIVE EQUIPMENT. Only VERY heavy duty chain locks and U-locks should be trusted on expensive bicycles. Combination locks can be smashed easily with hammers.

I actually purchased this item to use it for other than it was intended for. I used it to secure audio cabinets to the wall in our multipurpose meeting rooms. People were pulling the cabinets away from the wall often times damaging expensive cables and connections. It’s size and diameter was perfect for this.

This product works well. I don’t expect it to be cut-proof but it will deter someone from just yoinking off your seat

Cheap cable that will protect your saddle just fine. Don’t try to secure anything else with it, though, I could probably cut through the 3mm cable with tools I have on hand, and I’m no bike thief. Seems pretty well-constructed, though, and should hold up to anything but an attacker with the right tools.
