Essential.
This blinky is permanently clipped to my backpack for evening riding (you can either use the clip to attatch it to a belt/pocket/bag/etc, or connect it to a seatpost/other tube using the provided adapter).
It’s cheap enough to replace when it inevitably breaks (my girlfriend and i have gone through one each; mine was shattered when it fell off of my belt and run over by a car; hers started “eating” batteries), but will easily hold up for a year otherwise.
Bright enough to be seen for over a handfull of (Philadelphia) city blocks. I use blink mode when it’s really late, steady mode in the evening.
Great price, great quality, clips to clothes/belts/etc or locks to seatposts if you prefer.
One star deduction due to one eating batteries, but appears to have been a fluke; we have three others that have been going strong for over a year since with no problems.

I like to take evening bike rides, and this light keeps me safer. Its very bright and comes with 2 light settings. Its somewhat hard to get it open so that you can put the batteries inside. I recommend using a quarter to slowly pry it open.

My wife and I do a lot of nighttime walking, usually in areas without sidewalks. We each use a Blinky 3, and are reasonably confident that vehicles approaching from any direction see us in plenty of time to avoid an accident. It has a build-in clip you can use to attach the device to clothing. Although the clip doesn’t attach to clothing as securely as we would like, it works. As an alternative you can always run a cord though the ring, and wear the device around your neck like a pendant (which is what we now do).

I found this on the street after it came off somebody’s bike. It has flown off my bike once, luckily I heard it hit. Use some rubber bands or stretchy tape to help secure it to seat bag loop.

Not as sophisticated as the super flash models, but not bad at much less cost. Less likely to get stolen too. But, if you want the best get a super flash.

All tail lights should be tested and alignment checked before leaving the house. Alignment is critical and sloppy installation can degrade performance of lights by 90%.
