Park Tool PB 7 Repair Stand and Truing Stand For PB 1 – Reviews

For the price the PB-1 and PB-7 combination is a rip off. I already knew the Park tools I’ve been buying were overpriced for what I was getting but this is ridiculous. I bought the PB-7 truing stand and repair stand kit to go with it. I knew the table top was plastic but I didn’t realize from the pictures or the description that the mounting system was so flimsy. The quick release system may be good for mounting wheels to a solid steel or aluminum dropout but it’s not right for the hollow plastic and thin tubing frame on the PB-1 bench. When you mount a wheel onto the truing stand it leans to the wheel side because of the plastic table flexing. When you mount a bike in the repair stand the bottom bracket just sits on top of a cradle with nothing to fasten it down so if you’re pedaling (adjusting derailleur, etc.)you have to be careful the bike doesn’t fall out of the prop under the BB. I spent well over two hundred dollars on a poorly engineered bike repair table and stand. I know now I should have just purchase a good quality repair stand and used my bench or a small folding table to lay my tools on. In my opinion Park Tools is taking advantage of people and I hope I don’t have to buy many more of their tools.
