I’ve now got two weeks under the wheels, and about 50 miles. My commute to work is all of three miles and I decided to stop being lazy and get peddling. This bike is superb. The dual suspension soaks up just about everything (I weigh 210#), the disc brakes are better than average, and the gearing is much better than I thought. I was fully prepped to take it to a bike shop to get the gears (all 24 of them) properly aligned – but mine was fine right out of the box. It sometimes has trouble deciding between 2nd and 3rd, but since I spend most of my ride in 4/5/6/7th gears (on the 2nd front gear setting), it’s a non-issue.
Yes, you will need to get a better seat, or a gel-pak for this one, but that’s standard fare. As the others have said, this is a very good bike and a superb value! Go for it – the summer’s almost here!

I just received this bike today, and I’m impressed so far. Packaging was very good and in good shape on arrival. The bike itself was easy to assemble (what little assembly there was). I had to attach the front tire, seat, handlebars, and pedals. Everything else was assembled. The gears already shift smoothly and quickly out of the box. No fine tuning needed. The only adjustments I had to make was aligning the handlebars (just slightly off center), and tightening the rear brake cable a hair.

I will update this review after a few rides, but all looks awesome so far.

I bought this bike for my girlfriend as a christmas gift as I couldn’t find a womens bike with all the features she wanted. This one had it all though, fat tires, dual disc brakes, dual suspension, easy releases on both tires and seat, and EZ Fire trigger shifters. It has all the same components as my Mongoose Snare(which I love BTW) just built on a nicer designed frame. My Mongoose Snare has held up great for over a year with some moderate off road abuse(I’m 6′ 215) so I am more than sure that this bad boy will do the same for her. She has already given great props to the way the bike handles on pavement, as well as gravel roads when compared to her old bike.

I was very impressed with the bike when it came. When I built the bike it seemed very solid. I did not have a chance to road test it. Had to return the product due to a defective rear brake caliper bolt that was made too long causing it to eat into the disc. Other than that one issue, pretty solid construction.

I have just received the replacement for this bike. Of course the first thing I looked at was the rear brake caliper. The bolt this time is not as bad as previously, but it is still going to cause me to return the bike. The rear bolt on the caliper is slightly less than 1 mm away from the disc. This means any sort of wear or tear is going to cause the bolt to dig into the disc once again. The same bolt on the front caliper is approximately 3 mm away from the disc, which is normal. This is probably just a bad defect where the brake caliper does not fit the frame of this bike well at all. Amazon on the other hand has been very willing and prompt on replacement/return.

Received bike within 2 days of purchace on the first time PRIME trial offer. Bike was in good condition with the exception of the front disk. The disk was a little bit warped but due to hazards of shipping, i didnt complain as i was able to tweak it into its original shape with some needlenose pliers and a little tension. I did have exact item instructions included with my bike for the Promax disk brakes as well as a general bike manual. Not a whole lot of instructions were needed to come with this set-up however, but i did look back on it upon completion for assurance. So far bike seems to hold together very sturdy and comfort is no issue for my body at 6’1″. I shopped around for other bikes with front and rear disk brakes and this was by far the best bike i found for the price. I wasnt too sure of it at first but now i am quite pleased at the quality i recieved and at my bank account for the money i didnt toss away. I am very new to mountain biking, and only got into it because of this bicycle. I have never taken bikes off road until I got this GMC Topkick (In reality, this is made by Pacific Cycles – cheap department store level of quality, for the most part). For a novice like myself, initially the bike seemed fantastic. As I continue to progress into the sport, the shortcomings of this bike are becoming very apparent, however, it is only a ~$300 bike. So, to be concise and to the point, here is my take on it:
