The Kryptolok fits well around the frame and spokes of my bike. I’ve had it for more than a month without encountering any problems. As some reviewers have pointed out, using the key can take effort. However, it becomes a lot easier once you get accustomed to it.

I am happy with my purchase of this lock.

The lock was broken and my $900 bike was stolen 2 days after securing it with this lock. The protection guarantee seems to work, though – I’m filing the paperwork and they haven’t given me any trouble thus far, so I should get $900 from Kryptonite for the stolen bike.

Lesson? Get a stronger lock if you have a flashy or expensive bike. I hear good things about their New York series.

The lock is fine, however I returned the first one only to find the second one had the same issue, so it seems to be a design flaw. The “spline” that is attached to the shackle (the metal loop part of the lock) has this allen-wrench-style hex net screw, so you can tighten it in the desired position. In both cases, that net screw is extremely wimpy and became “stripped” when tightening it. So the spline is not fully secure on the shackle. Why does this matter? When its mounted to the bracket on your bike, it can swing freely instead of being secured in a steady position, which is obviously dangerous and extremely inconvenient. I’m surprised by this because Kryptonite is supposed to be top quality lock.

I got this lock because I just bought a great albeit expensive bike. It took me over 2 hours to get it mounted properly as it’s size as well inflexible bracket material that holds it while you ride was a pain to manipulate. The lock works great but it takes a good 15 minutes of finagling to get it off the mount. Then it takes another 15minutes when I’m ready to go because the key has to be jiggled and wiggled around to make sure it is all the way in to unlock and lock it back up. The mount a pain to get the lock on and off. I gave up using it when I bike. The lock does work, but for people who live in a low crime area on the go, I get another different lock.
