Knog Skink 4 LED Bicycle Light (Headlight Red) – Reviews

I’ve had it for a few days//but its does exactly what i need//its has a very powerful & clearly seen light from a distance//perfect for night riding//it has a variety of lighting sequences, easy to clip on & stays on! recommended!

I ride one of these, paired with a Knog Toad. This is an excellent light for the city. I like that it takes standard batteries, and that it is easy to take on and off. The multiple blink patterns are nice for picking an obnoxious pattern when you need it. I like the translucent version because it also provides side visibility.

I’ve been riding this on my daily commute through the rain, and leaving it parked in the rain, for the last year. I have had no problems.

Get a light and be seen.

Here is the problem with all Knog lights: they are angled exactly the way the frame elements you attach them to are angled. Tail light attached to a seat post is looking down – not good. tail light attached to the rear triangle stay is facing sharply up – not good at all. A front light can be pointed forward if you have enough room on your handlebar for a wide light, but otherwise it is mounted onto the steerer and – you guessed, is pointing up, blinding the birds, but not illuminating the road… Compare this to the lights which have pivoting attachment mounts – those can compensate for angles…
Secondly, I’m sure it seemed like a good idea to someone to have 5 blinking modes (why does it matter to a driver that is about to ram you from behind whether the leds go off 1-2-3-4 or 1/4-2/3 pattern is beyond me) – but turning the light off is a *torture* – you have to press the rubbery spot on the underside five times to shut the thing off.. Seems like a small thing – well, try doing it

I’ve had this light for a few months now and it’s worked out great so far. I think the rubber cover really helps absorb a lot of the impact on the light when you go over bumps. My last headlight had a plastic brace and after too many bumps it basically just broke off. It’s easy to get on and off of your handle bars and can be tilted in different directions. The light is really bright too. Two thumbs up.
