Ergon GC3 Comfort Bicycle Handlebar Grips (Large)
Ergon GC3 Comfort Bicycle Handlebar Grips (Large) – Features

In some situations people simply need more hand positions. New for 2009 is the GC3. Employing the much proven ergonomic grip body of the GC2, the GC3 introduces a hollow formed glass fiber reinforced ergonomically shaped bar end. Featuring rubberized inserts for positive grip, like all of Ergon’s bar ends it can be independently positioned relative to the grip and acts as the clamp preventing accidental rotation. The grip itself is available in two sizes
  • Ergon’s extensive grip assortment is now presented with completely re-worked and re-invented packaging. This uses as little material as possible to and much of the material used is recycled
  • Ergon does not recommend using any bar end grip models on any carbon fiber handlebars

Ergon GC3 Comfort Bicycle Handlebar Grips (Large) – Reviews

Pros:
Well built with solid attachment to handlebars
Significantly reduces wrist / hand numbness
Great traction when wet

Cons:
Price

Very good grips. If you experience numbness in your hands / wrists when riding these grips can help a lot. I still have to use a good pair of paded biking gloves or my hands will start to get numb but I am very satisfied with the GC3 grips.

If you do not currently have numbness when you ride with standard grips I would not reccomend these grips because they hold your hand slightly more open and could make it easier for your hand to slip off during rough riding. That said, I am currently using the grips on my mountain bike and have not had any issues but I do feel slightly less connected to the handlebars when trail riding.

Were a little tricky to install correctly and adjust, but they make all the difference in the world for my longer rides now. I’m not completely without discomfort from the ulnar nerve, but this helps dramatically.

they were a snap to install and are comfortable (no more numb hands riding long distances) they seemed a little small at first – i’m 6-5″ and my hands are pretty big but i finally realized that they don’t support the entire heel of my hand because there needs to be space between the grip and the shifter for wrapping my fingers around the handle bar – my only gripe is lack of description about the different styles offered – what the heck means ‘gripshift length’ ?? no explanation on the manufacturers website or from the vendor – still don’t know but but i feel much more comfortable than i did with the stock grips – one small caveat and i’m sure i’ll get used to it – my hands feel kind of trapped by the curvature – my old steer horns were a little more open – they’re solid and well built and i like the various hand positions – it allows me to stretch out especially helpful when standing up for hills

I ordered this time for my BikeFriday New World Tourist which came with flat bars (this is an option, one could choose other bars). I’m planning on riding my NWT at RAGBRAI XXXIX and really needed to give myself more hand positions.

The Ergon GC3 make a huge difference in comfort over standard flat bars.

First, the shape of the grips really conforms to ones hand eliminating hots spots that can become painful during long rides. The material is firm and provides excellent comfort for the long haul. The grip alone makes riding with flat bars much more enjoyable.

Add the bar end extensions and you’ve really got something. The long extensions on the GC3 make possible many hand positions which help eliminate the fatigue associated with having just one position. In addition, because the extensions add another dimension to the flat bars it’s possible to achieve a much more aerodynamic position when necessary.

About ten days ago I rode 75 miles on my Friday, the longest single ride I’d
