CycleOps Wind Indoor Bicycle Trainer – Reviews
I was looking for a trainer that was not magnetic. The ones I had tried did not feel smooth and uniform in resistance. I stopped in a local bike shop and tried a fluid one that was much more expensive. I wasn’t impressed for the cost. I decided to take a risk and try the CycleOps wind trainer. I had read about the noise but that wasn’t that big of a deal to me. I just wanted something that would be smooth and provide some resistance to keep my legs active through the long winter. I just finished my first workout and am very happy. In 30 minutes I worked up a good sweat and if I wanted to work harder I could have but just changing gears or peddling faster. There is some noise but I had a small TV set up in front of me and I was able to hear the shows OK. I would definitely recommend this to those non Olympians looking for some winter or bad weather alternatives.

I definitely agree with the other reviewer – this thing is pretty loud. I live in an apartment building and ended up shoving stuff under my door to quiet the noise. Unlike one reviewer, I could not hear a TV (even turned up) so I turned on CC so I could read what was being said. I am not a ‘fast cyclist’ by any means, but it was really loud at the faster parts of my workout.
It was really easy to set up, and the resistance was really smooth. Overall, this would be fine if noise was not a constraint.

This unit does make a sufficient amount of noise. My dad and I joke about attaching a vacuum hose to the unit. But, all jokes aside – the trainer works great and is solidly built. I also own a CycleOps Magneto. If I were to purchase another one, I’d probably go with the Wind Trainer.

This thing is worth every penny, especially at this great price. It’s no louder than any other stationary exercise machine, assembles easily, fits my road bike perfectly, doesn’t require any messing around to get my bike on and off it, and provides me with a completely realistic-feeling cycling workout at home while my baby naps. Plus, I think the sound it makes from the fan turning is good cause I don’t have to listen to myself huff and puff. (Also, it sometimes acts nicely as white noise if I need to have my baby near me in her bouncy-seat when she wakes up before I’m done. It’s nowhere near too loud for her sensitive ears.)
