CycleOps Aluminum Roller Indoor Bicycle Trainer with Resistance
CycleOps Aluminum Roller Indoor Bicycle Trainer with Resistance – Features
See your fitness-and your bike handling skills-improve when you add CycleOps rollers to your training program. You’ll increase your balance, control and ability to ride a straight line, all of which translate to more efficiency, power and technique on the road. And because you have to pedal 100% of the time to balance your bike, you get an amazing workout. After a winter on rollers you’ll be poised to lead the pack in the spring. Not only do rollers provide the most awesome stationary workout with incredible real-world ride feel, but they’re also simple to set-up, store and transport. For warming up before a race or watching the time fly by during an indoor ride, rollers offer the ultimate in versatility and simplicity. CycleOps Aluminum rollers are a great starter set for indoor and outdoor use because they won’t distort in heat or sunlight. This magnetic bar that works within the magnetic field of the rolling aluminum rear drum, allows you to increase the difficulty of your workout without any extra noise. CycleOps rollers can be conveniently folded for grab-and-go transport and out of the way storage, so training areas stay clutter-free. CycleOps Aluminum rollers are built to last and carry a lifetime warranty. Constructed from bi-fold tubular steel they can stand up to all sorts of abuse-like being tossed into the car, set up in parking lots at races, getting stepped on and the general rigors of daily use. We also guarantee that if anything ever breaks on it, we’ll fix it or replace it. The 3.25-3.5″ precision lathed drum diameters offer an optimal range of resistance with a super smooth ride and the adjustable wheel base fits just about any size bike. Rubber foot pads ensure that the only thing moving on the rollers are the drums so you get a secure, sturdy ride. Because mastering the rollers can take a few tries, the 16″ wide base gives you room to move around until you’re holding a straight line like never before.
Precision-lathed 3.25″ aluminum roller drums run silent and smooth, and won’t distort in heat or sunlight.
Fold flat or stand on end for convenient storage.
Designed for both indoor and outdoor use.
Durable steel-frame construction, Adjustable belt for right and left dismount

CycleOps Aluminum Roller Indoor Bicycle Trainer with Resistance – Reviews

I have used it for a little while since I got this product and have found it great for the money. Very well built, no complains for the moment.
I would recommend it!

The rollers is great because it is different from using a stationary bike. You have to keep up with the balance and that takes away the boredom of regular exercise bike. You could also improve your shifting technique while working on the rollers. Shifting to low versus high gears also let you control the way you would like to expend your energy by employing a higher power versus a higher speed exercise mode. However, I got essentially the same roller at less than half the price at Performance bike shop (online order). In fact, I managed to get two with slight differences, one at somewhere $109 and the other at $129. I gave it two stars simply because the price is way too high for such a simple equipment. Tips for using it include: set up a stool next to you at the right place to catch your fall; 2) if you do fall, don’t panic, don’t fight against the fall; 3) as a starter, set up the roller halfway at the doorway such that your body is sort of between the door frame. I recently parched the CycleOps Rollers with resistance. I have owed and ridden on rollers over several years, this is the first time I have owned CycleOps Rollers. The rollers themselves seem well engineered, used quality material and intended last, (pervious rollers I have owed have lasted over ten years of moderately consistent use). I believe the CycleOps rollers are quality if pricy, but we will have to see.
Now the resistance unit is a different case. I am surprised and disappointed in the resistance unit. This part of the solution has what I perceive to be several problems. It seems poorly designed, poorly engineered and inexpensively built. It uses a plastic knob as a type of gear against a metal rod and springs. This leads to very violent adjustment and impacts the installation setup. The current implementation for installation and calibration of the resistance unit is inadequate. Selection of the resistance level is abrupt enough to knock the unit out of alignment.

These rollers are great. One of the chief complaints I have of the regular trainers (as with stationary bikes), is that they tend to get boring after riding for a short while. Since this unit requires more concentration to maintain your balance (which takes a bit of practice and maybe a few sessions), it makes the workout a lot more fun and engaging. Plus, I really like the idea of being able to put my bike to good use during the winter months. This unit also takes up very little space, and doesn’t require any alterations to the bike (I’ve even managed to keep my seat at the same height).

At this point, I haven’t had a chance to use the resistance feature, as the gears on my bike are providing enough of a workout for me. I’d suggest trying out the version without the resistance add-on first, then order the resistance unit separately if you feel you need it (price-wise, it seems they charge nearly the exact same amount for the resistance unit whether you buy it separately, or
