Cateye TL-LD610-BR 5-LED Rear Bicycle Light Bulb Color: Red ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. First of all, be aware that the clear/white lens version of this great light IS a red light just as it’s black/red lens brother. I happened to unknowingly own an earlier version of this light that performed well. I opted for the white/clear this time around for another bicycle. I liked the “new” look of it and I suspected that the leds were red and may actually be brighter than having to filter white led light through a red lens. I dont know which is brighter, this or the black/red lens, but I do know that this baby is super-bright. I recently had to ride at night up St. Charles Ave. in New Orleans without a rear light. I decided I wanted one and I wanted the biggest, brightest one I could get. I think this Cateye hits the bullseye ! It has 5 big leds arranged laterally and offers the biggest and brightest rear signature that I have found. Folks, it aint gonna get much better than this. If somebody can’t see this, there is no hope. I like the easy and convenient switch Summary: Body of light has improved, but mounting strap is flimsy and sticks out 3/4 inch. I have owned a very similar Cateye model in the past that I really liked. So I thought that it was a no brainer to get the upgraded model for another bike. The body of the light is a slight improvement with an easier to reach button and it seems to be a bit more weatherproof. It is average in brightness. For those who ride alone at night, you might prefer something brighter. But for early mornings, especially when your with a group, it is bright enough. However the strap Cateye switched to is flimsy and is hard to tighten down. After one ride I noticed it loose. Furthermore, the end sticks out 3/4 inch. I prefer the tail light mounted vertically and you cannot do this if you mount it on one of the stays. So I had mounted it on my seat post. The end rubs up against my leg as I ride which is very annoying. The older model had a much more secure mount and did not stick out more than a So far so good. It is quite visible from behind. I ride early mornings before the sun comes up and this light is quite visible. I put this light & a planet bike superflash on the back of my bike – good combo to get driver’s attention. This thing is bright. Super bright. And big. Like wider than my palms. Which created a small problem: if the light is mounted on my seat tube horizontally, my thigh hits it on the downstroke. Fortunately, the light can be mounted vertically just by sliding the light into the mount that way. No hassle. I certainly don’t mind it being vertical. However, if you’re very particular about how your light is mounted on your bike, and you have a narrow saddle, this may not be for you.
