Cateye CC RD300W Strada Wireless Bicycle Computer (Black) – Reviews

I was surprised by how slim this computer is. Once you initialize it, all you have to do is press the unit to cycle through the functions. I like that it starts automatically, since I usually forgot to start my old one. I like the pace arrows, which are a motivator if you are riding for time. The only thing I haven’t figured out is how to stop the average pace calculation and keep riding at a relaxed pace once I’m done with my course. I just have to check the numbers before my warmdown route starts. It installed easily on the bar stem, which I liked better than on the bar. Some trial and error needed on the sensor, but in all it took about 30 minutes at the most to install.

I am new to cycling over the last year and I needed to get a cycle computer to track speed and distance on longer training rides. After much research I settled on this device. For purposes of this review I ride a 2008 Specialized Allez Elite.

Installation:
Very easy. The magnet attaches to a spoke on the front tire by simply twisting a tightening screw. It has not moved in over 200 miles of riding. The sensor for the magnet attaches to the front fork using included zip ties. I have vibration dampening inserts in the area where I needed to attach it and still had no problem doing so. It was very easy to position the sensor within the required distance of the passing magnet. I have never needed to adjust its position. The receiver / display unit attached to the stem easily

Programing:
I read through the instructions once, followed along doing what it told me, and after the third time it was intuitive and straight forward. Yes, it is a bit different, but not difficult by any means

Good product, only problem I had since installing was it stopped working.
This was because the mount for some reason did not align. I made the necessary adjustment and since then there has been no problem.
I keep acturate records for my rides and the Strada meets my demands. I am glad I purchased this product and may buy the kit so I can use it also on my second bike.

This is first bicycle computer I’ve had and was quiet surprised how small and light this thing is.
The speed accuracy is also impressive (I’ve checked it with police radars on streets).

From all the positive things about this computer there are a few negatives:
1) it has no light – can’t use in the dark
2) it’s clock is incredibly inaccurate (I’ve set it up with atomic clock, after 3 months it was 4 minutes late).
3) you have to reset trip data when timer hits about 27 hours or 999.99 km otherwise instead of average speed it shows “E” (error).
4) if magnet left next to the transmitter (odds are very slim, one should buy a lottery ticket if that happens) the computer doesn’t go standby
5) very hard take the unit off the bracket without pressing the button

These 5 cons are very minor for not buying this computer.

I would recommend it to my friends.
