Sizing: I generally wear a 32 waist and the L fit well. I also tried the M but they were too snug.

Padding: There just isn’t much and these were a little underwhelming in that respect. I might not have spent $40 on shorts if I knew this.

I wanted some shorts that did not cost too much and were not flashy and would not look too absurd on what might be called a portly figure. These met those requirements pretty well. There is a nice zippered wallet pocket, which is plenty for me. What is kind of neat is that they nest a stretchy padded inner short inside baggy, flappy outer shorts. They have proved comfortable on daily rides of twenty miles and on longer excursions of fifty and sixty-five miles.
If I get another pair of shorts, I will look for some that have heavier padding, but I think that as others have suggested, these were a great starter pair.

Good MTB shorts for just getting in to cycling. Especially for those of us that are a little chubby and/or too vain to wear regular tight spandex cycling shorts.
I’m 5’9″ with a 33″ waist, I went with the large size. The fit is good and the quality of construction looks good too.
The chamois thing in the liner seems a little baggy though. It might bunch up which could be awkward..
