Blackburn Flea Front Flea Rear USB Combo Headlight – Reviews

I’ve been using this set of bike lights since June of 2010, and they’ve been fantastic. I like them so much that I bought a 2nd pair last month for my Wife, now that she’s riding her bike to work with me in the darker hours of the day.

Plus’s
+ Rechargeable via USB! I cannot overstate the sheer convenience of the USB charger in this set. It is small and portable enough that I can easily care it with me to and from work so that if my lights start to dim on the ride in, I can charge them back up upon arrival.

+ 3 Different Modes of lighting for the headlight and tail light. I prefer the flashing modes, usually, although if I’m in a dark area I’ll turn on the steady high-beam on the headlight. I also tend to use the low power mode for the headlight when I get home, as I store my bike indoors and it helps tremendously to be able to see where I’m going in the darkness before I get to the light switch.

I have used this light everyday for my commute for the past month. The velcro mounting strap is starting to fail prematurely and now there’s a risk that the light will fall off. I ride in the dark for about 40 mins every day and I have to charge the light every day. Which means I have to take the light on and off…leading to the mounting strap failure. I’m now looking for a replacement light unless I can figure out an alternative way to mount this thing and get rid of the strap.

I’m a daily commuter, and I ride my Trek Soho S to the gym every evening, so I rely on my light. After using this light for about six months, I’ve found the Blackburn Flea to be a constantly poor product that I’m now having to replace.

The Flea’s battery life is frustratingly short, and charging it is a pain. To charge it you have to have a USB port on hand–which sounds simple, but there are times when it’s just not practical to use my laptop in order charge the light. If I could simply charge the light with a common wall outlet, this charging problem would be solved–but the Flea can only be charged via USB.

After six months of use, the light no longer charges at all.

$40.00 for this inferior light is insult to injury. Six months after buying the Blackburn Flea, I’m now having to spend more money in order to buy a replacement. The replacement uses a traditional battery… I’ve learned my lesson.

great BRIGHT little suckers. i ride in NYC and really just need lights to be seen by the idiots on the road. these babies accomplish that! they are BRIGHT!
(but not bright enough to light up a road in dim lit area, like i said. nyc) i use them at night maybe 30 minutes a day, just getting from A to B. the charge lasts about 2 weeks i’d say. charging them is simple just plug them up to your computer and wait a bit, you’ll know when they’re done. the flash letting you know lights up the whole room when they’re ready. the velcro is great allowing them to be placed anywhere. NO BATTERIES IS just the best :) i’ve had them for several months now and they still hold a charge just like day 1.
i 10,000% recommend these. adios
